RESPECT FOR GIRL GAMERS? ARE YOU TECHNOLOGICALLY DEPENDENT?

Pebble's Gaming Diaries   26/10/2022 Hello everyone, I hope we’re all having a lovely week! As I shared at the end of my previous blog, today we will be discussing an article written by Claire Gregory (Sky News), regarding Chloe Grace Moretz’ views on being a girl in the gaming community, as well as Jack Reynor’s opinion on the rise of technological dependency. If anyone has any comments they would like to share, please feel free to comment below or even private message me on my social media – Twitter and Instagram . Moretz shares her frustrations with the Sky News team stating how there isn’t really any “respect” for female gamers, which I think a lot of us women can agree with. I think it goes without saying, a mutual pre-emptive fear of being verbally harassed by teammates is a clear sign that something is wrong in the community. A lot of female gamers are scared to speak, scared to play alone, and scared to lose, and this all stems from previous interactions with ce

Pebble's Gaming Diaries   23/10/2022 Hi everyone, Since we last spoke, Valorant underwent one heck of an update! Not only were we introduced to the new agent Harbor: HARBOR BIOGRAPHY (Riot Games, 2022) “Hailing from India’s coast, Harbor storms the field wielding ancient technology with dominion over water. He unleashes frothing rapids and crushing waves to shield his allies and pummel those that oppose him.” ABILITIES (Riot Games, 2022) HIGH TIDE (Key bind = E) A wall of water. COVE (Key bind = Q) A sphere of shielding water. CASCADE (Key bind = C) A wave of water that slows players hit by it. RECKONING (Key bind = X) Summon a geyser pool on the ground, to concuss those caught by it. But Riot also updated the game's aesthetics: I must say, personally, I and some of my friends aren’t particularly swayed by Valorant’s new look, and neither is the rest of the community judging from these comments on Twitter: However, as a business student, I can appreciate th

Pebble's Gaming Diaries   19/10/2022 Welcome back everyone! Since the end of last week, I have been moving and as of today I finally received my Wi-Fi router!!! Unfortunately, this does mean I’ve had no Wi-Fi and have had limited time to play Valorant. However, there’s still lots I’d love to talk about with you all. Well, where do we start… as the main title of my blog suggests, I am ‘Straight Outta Iron.’ At the end of last week, I finally managed to escape iron, yet again. Your girl is now back to bronze 🥉 ! So, this week I will be doing my utmost to keep climbing the ranks. Since I moved, I also decided when else best would it be to indulge in some of life’s finer things??? I bought my very first gaming chair and monitor! Gaming chair is the MATCHSPEL Gaming chair, in Bomstad black from IKEA (link below) and monitor is the HP X34 (34" ) WQHD IPS HDR Gaming Monitor from HP (link below).  My monitor won’t necessarily be used for gaming though, as I am just so used

Introduction To My Blog

Pebble's Gaming Diaries   16/10/2022 Today's blog post will be a short introduction to me and what my aims are with this blog. I'm a 'gamer' like many of you reading may be too. However, I'm also a girl... why does that matter? I honestly don't understand it either, but in this community, it does. When I was younger I used to play Call of Duty Black Ops 2 (COD), on my friend's Play Station 3 (PS3), but as we got older we focused more on school than on games. It wasn’t until lockdown 2020 that I was introduced to PC gaming and installed games such as Counter Strike Global Offensive (CSGO), Overwatch, Final Fantasy 14, and then eventually Valorant. To explain to you how much of a '*noob' I was, the first game I started playing on PC was CSGO I use a laptop, not a gaming laptop, and back then I didn’t have a mouse because I had never needed one, so I would run around the map trying to k*ll enemies with my touchpad. Thinking back on it, it's so
